Hanumandhoka
(Place De Durbar): It is the historical seat of the Royalty.
Durbar Square,with its old temples and places, KTM durbar square
world heritage site summarizes the religious and cultural life
of the people. This complex of palaces, courtyards and the
temples were established between 12th and the 18th kings of
century. Tea of Nepal are crowned and their crowning are
solemnized here. The interesting things to see here are the
temple of Taleju built by King Mahendra Malla in 1549. Kal
Bhairav, God of destruction, Nautalle Durbar, Crowning Naxal
Chowk, Gaddi Baithak, the statue of Pratap Malla, the large
bell, large drum and the trident piece of Jagannath Temple and
there is a stone inscription of the 17th century regulated at
the wall of the palace with writings in 15 languages. Inside the

There are Numismatic and Tribhuvan museum and the photography is
strictly prohibited inside the museum. Both museums remain
closed on Tuesday and on government holidays. Nominal fee is
charged to enter the courtyard of the palace where one can see
carvings and moldings at the nine story pagoda of the palace.
The principal golden gate is guarded by Hanuman ( the monkey
god) and the image was kept by King Pratap Malla. |
