LOWER SOLU KHUMBU THE SHERPA COUNTRY WITH MANI RIMDU AND DUMJI FESTIVALS
This trek leads us to the Mid-estern side of Nepal and the trek route connects us to Jiri, a place where we enter the Sherpa village. We pass Changma (Bhandar), Goli Gompa and Pekey Peak (4100m.) on our way. Pekey Peak is well known for its magnificient view of Nepal Eastern Mountains namely GauriShankar, Numbur, Mt. Everest,Makalus and Kanchenjungas. We cross the Tibetan Refuge camp, Chailsa and arrive at our next destination, Chiwang Monastery where the quintiles of traditional festivals "Mani Rimdu" every full moon of Nov. and at Junbesi Monasteries "Dumji" every full moon of April (Lama Dance with Mask) is held annually. In This area we learn about eh Sherpa culture and tradition. We are also priveleged to halt at their houses and experience the Sherpa life. This trek is not very difficult and hence an average trekker. This is a 21 days trek in which is trekker is supposed to walk for 12 days.
